Readers Connect with Authors to Bring Their Stories to Life
“To keep our stories and our traditions alive, we should tell them to our children and our children’s children. In that way we can pass on the wisdom they contain.”
--Claire Datnow, The Nine Inheritors:

It came as a surprise to me hear that readers love hearing writers talk about their inspiration and process for writing, and that they enjoy meeting the author in person, too. Why did that surprise me? Because writing is a solitary process, and writers can be rather shy people who best express their thoughts on paper, in private, rather than in public. Knowing that readers enjoy listening to the authors talk about their work gave me the courage to throw a book party for the launch of my new historical novel, The Nine Inheritors: The Odyssey of a Family and Their Ancient Torah Scroll. After reading a passage from the book at The Little Professor Book Store, I was delighted by the comment from a therapist that, “You accurately portrayed the feelings of the character—Yacov, the third inheritor—that perfectly match the clinical symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress (PTS).” Thanks so much to all those who attended! I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did. May reading continue to be a source of pleasure, solace, and enlightenment to you.
